Dolby Digital Cinema Support For 60th Berlin International Film Festival

Dolby Laboratories has announced that it will support the Berlin International Film Festival as 'Official Supplier' for digital cinema equipment and services, when the annual Berlinale celebrates its 60th anniversary this week.
The 10 day event, which gets underway on Thursday 11 February, is recognised as the world's largest publicly attended film festival, and last year attracted 20,000 film professionals, including around 4,000 journalists, as well as selling more than 270,000 tickets to the public.
With digital cinema playing an increasingly significant role in the festival presentation, the organisers have again called upon Dolby's Production Services Group to help ensure the 40+ Digital Cinema screenings during the festival, including those in competition for the prestigious Golden Bear and Silver Bear awards, are presented to the highest industry standards.
"The Berlinale has to be one of the busiest film festivals," said Julian Pinn, Director of Distribution Services at Dolby, "not least because so many of the screenings are open to members of the public. But with so much going on it is vital for the organizers that they can rely on first class technical support and we at Dolby are glad to help."
In addition to the digital cinema support, it is anticipated that the team of Dolby engineers will also provide support for more than 70 screenings using Dolby E audio technology for their soundtracks.
