Garth & Bev To Screen On CBeebies

News Image
Today sees the launch of animated series Garth & Bev on BBC's CBeebies. The series is a co-production between Dublin based Kavaleer Productions, and Copernicus Studios, a Canadian animation company.
Garth and Bev have already enjoyed huge success when it debuted on RTE in November of 2009 securing a 33% share of the viewing audience.
Speaking about the launch of the series, Managing Director of Kavaleer and Producer of the series Gary Timpson said: "We are delighted that Garth & Bev is set to broadcast on CBeebies. The series was hugely successful when it debuted on Irish television in November so we are hoping that this will be replicated in the UK."
Garth and Bev is aimed at 4 - 7 year olds and follows the adventures of Garth and his sister Bev who live a long time ago. With a little magical help from their druid grandfather Lir, they can travel anywhere in time to satisfy their curiosity about the world and everything in it. At the heart of the series lies the idea that nature is the primary source for invention, creativity and problem-solving. Whatever brilliant inventions the human race can come up with, most often we will find that nature got there first!
Kay Benbow, Head of CBeebies Production, Animation and Acquisitions commented: "This charming series will answer questions for our youngest viewers through narrative and a little bit of magic! I am sure the CBeebies audience will love following Garth and Bev as they travel through time making exciting discoveries."
Over 75 people were employed throughout the production of the series. Financing was provided by Kavaleer, BBC, RTÉ, The Irish Film Board, The BAI, BBC Worldwide and the Irish tax incentive schemes, section 481, in conjunction with co-production partners Copernicus Studios.
Along with the launch of Garth & Bev, Kavaleer are also celebrating their nomination for a Digital Media Award and an IFTA for short film Hasan Everywhere. It will be screened at the end of January in the IFI.
