NDR Selects Fairlight Xynergi Systems For TV Sound Editing
German public broadcaster NDR (Norddeutscher Rundfunk) have began a major upgrade operation in their TV sound editing department.
As part of the process, five Fairlight Xynergi systems will be installed in its television production facilities based in Hamburg.
Fairlight has a rich tradition of innovation and development and is at the forefront of green computing technology.
The upgrade will switch all of the broadcaster’s sound editing facilities to 5.1 surround sound, thus making them HD compatible. All of the Xynergi systems are being supplied by Media Logic, Fairlight’s German distributor.
They will be installed by Hamburg Pro Audio and will be connected to the existing Omneon Mediagrid production server to ensure an integrated, networked MXF-workflow for TV formats in SD and HD.
Media Logic Director Robert Trebus commented: "NDR chose Fairlight Xynergi because it delivers all the tools needed for high-end audio for video production in all widely used surround formats.
"As with so many of today’s broadcasters, NDR’s productions are often time-critical and any technology that helps speed up workflow is a welcome addition. With its fast, CC-1 digital media engine and integrated PyxisTrack video, Xynergi offers fantastic time savings because it integrates seamlessly into NDR’s production network and can feed audio and high resolution video directly into the broadcast chain."
