ORAD expand lead in television sports industry

Orad’s successful launch of its new six-channel video disk server, the Forum and Elefant, has been followed by initial sales to two of Paul Allen’s companies: ASCN TV, a 24 hour HD cable sport network; and the second sale to ASCN Media, a service company that provides packaged graphics to large stadiums throughout the USA.
The systems were chosen after an extensive search and qualification process. The systems were tested and compared to existing alternative products on the market, such as: Tektronix/Grass Valley Profile, Sony MAV 555, and the EVS LSM systems.
The evaluation process criteria included ease of use and length of learning curve, guaranteed and proven upgrade path, size, editing capabilities, stability and remote control.
The systems will be used in an array of production needs, including live remote sport events, near-real-time editing as part of the newsroom operations, and as a video feed controller for video walls during live stadium events.
