Gefen launch new conversion solutions

Gefen's powerful analogue-in, digital-out VGA to ADC and VGA to DVI Conversion Boxes provide solutions for those who want to connect a legacy computer with analogue (VGA, SVGA, XVGA) ports to an Apple flat panel display (ADC) or any digital display (DVI).
The VGA to ADC Conversion Box, if used with Apple's new PowerMac G4, which offers both an ADC and VGA port each capable of driving a separate display, can create a dual-screen environment in which one display is connected to the ADC port, and the other to the VGA port.
In the broadcast and corporate markets, the VGA to DVI variation provides a means for legacy computers to attach to new digital projectors, bypassing the inferior VGA input of those devices.
"We're thrilled to help our customers bridge the gap between their older, analogue VGA devices and the new flat panel digital displays," said Hagai Gefen, president, Gefen Inc. "These converters are plug and play solutions that require no additional software or drivers and supports most flat panel displays compatible with DVI or ADC connections."
One of the greatest benefits of the Conversion Boxes is the preservation of image quality and resolution after the analogue to digital conversion. As an external device that sits next to the computer, system stability is easily maintained during signal transmission.
To install, users simply connect the display to the Conversion Box, then connect the Conversion Box to computer. Within the Box, an analogue to TMDS conversion takes place, followed by a conversion to a DVI or ADC-compatible connection. The ADC version also includes an external power supply to drive the display as well as a USB slot for peripherals.
Like other products in Gefen's ex-tend-it conversion line, the Boxes are designed to connect old and new computer systems. Conversely, Gefen has a solution for those who want to connect a newer computer (with DVI port) to an analogue (VGA) monitor.
