FOR-A Wins Three Prestigious Awards At IBC 2009

A leading manufacturer of video and audio systems for the broadcast and professional video industries, FOR-A, was given with three awards at IBC 2009.
TV Technology Europe magazine honoured FOR-A with a 2009 STAR Award (Superior Technology Award Recipient) for the VRCAM Virtual Studio.
FOR-A won two Best of IBC TVB Europe Editors' Awards: one for the FRC-8000 Multi-Format Frame Rate Converter and one for the VRCAM Virtual Studio.
Mark Hallinger, Editor of TV Technology Europe, said: "STAR awards are given to interesting new products that help a user save money or accomplish a task in an easier way.
"The products selected help advance the industry - some were chosen because of technical novelty or innovation, some because they filled an important gap in the production or transmission chain, and some because they were just cool products."
The Best of IBC 2009 Editor's Awards are chosen by the combined editorial teams behind TVBEurope magazine and the official show publication, The IBC Daily. The editors searched IBC for the most innovative new products that demonstrated the potential to make or save money for end users - not just clever technology for technology's sake.
FOR-A's two-time winner, the VRCAM Sensor-less Virtual Studio System is a plug-in for the Brainstorm eStudio 3D real-time graphics software package. With VRCAM, a virtual studio can be created without any modifications to existing cameras, lenses, tripods or other parts of an established camera system. Studio operation is simplified because the VRCAM system requires no location data detection sensors or complex calibrations typically required by a traditional virtual studio, when used with the MBP-12CK chroma key option found on FOR-A's MBP-1244 video card.
The FRC-8000 Multi-Format Frame Rate Converter provides an easy, one-touch set-up system. It also automatically detects scene cuts and changes, as well as 2:3 sequence pull-down between 1080/60i or 1080/59.94i and 1080/24p formats, to realise optimal motion compensation and frame rate conversion.
FOR-A is demonstrating the VRCAM and the FRC-8000 at SATIS Expo (Stand D 62) in Paris, between October 20 - 22.
