Portugal's RTP Chooses Dalet Radio Suite HD

Dalet Digital Media Systems has announced that RTP has successfully deployed Dalet Radio Suite HD to facilitate news and music programme production at the main facility in Lisbon, Portugal and their regional locations; Porto, Faro, Coimbra, Funchal and Ponta Delgada.
Dalet Radio Suite HD integrates the news and music production workflow across the six RTP locations; enabling all sites to better share content and produce programmes. The Dalet enterprise media asset management (MAM) infrastructure with built-in audio production tools consistently tracks metadata across the entire digital workflow. With metadata embedded across production and playout, RTP can easily re-purpose content for distribution to any number of platforms including web and more.
Carlos Gomes, Head of Technologies and Engineering at RTP, said: "Dalet will enable us to unify multiple workflows, streamlining radio news and music production across all facilities. It also enables us to re-use the content in which we created for radio for the web which is becoming more and more popular with our listeners. This type of content repurposing workflow is a key component in our distribution and Dalet has given us an ideal platform to easily adapt to new distribution channels."
Stephane Schlayen, Chief Operating Officer at Dalet, said: "Dalet Radio Suite HD solution not only integrates the production workflow for RTP, it also gives them a path in which they can easily adapt to future platforms, continually optimising their content distribution without-re-organising their workflows and systems. This design is highly scalable and very flexible, supporting thousands of users for a wide range of concurrent workflows."
The Dalet installation replaces the existing Mar4Win radio system at RTP. Radio Suite HD tightly integrates with RTP's existing ENPS system via MOS protocol. The exchange of data and content between ENPS and Dalet is seamless. Rundown, planning and playout information initiated by ENPS is tracked within the Dalet system.
The data flow is equally powerful on the reverse. Journalists can bring their Dalet generated audio directly into stories created using the ENPS system. All content is centralised by Dalet into one content depot, consistently catalogued and easily retrieved by journalists from any location using the Dalet enterprise search engine. The centralised content and tight integration across systems means that metadata is tracked from story creation to broadcast.
Dalet also integrates with the RTP corporate planning system, providing a top down view of the entire programming schedule for both TV and radio. Programmes scheduled are imported automatically into Dalet Radio Suite HD along with the associated content metadata. The Dalet media asset management layer automatically keeps track of the metadata; sending reports about RTP broadcasted content.
