Germany Confirms ITV's Secret Diner

The leading German commercial broadcaster VOX, part of the RTL group, has commissioned ITV Studios-owned Granada Germany to produce the first international entertainment format of Secret Diner.
The move will also be accompanied by further installments of the hit format Come Dine with Me.
Secret Diner challenges amateur cooks to open up their homes as public restaurants where, among the guests in each competition, is an undercover food critic who is planted to ultimately decide which cook wins the main prize. With the public only paying as much as they believe is deserved, the chefs must make a profit and impress the secret diner.
Granada Germany has been commissioned by VOX to produce ten 50-minute episodes; production will commence in October. Secret Diner will be filmed on location around Germany and will be executive produced by Uli Zahn (Come Dine with Me).
Jan Kromschroeder, Managing Director at Granada Germany, said: "Through our experience of producing nearly 1,000 episodes of Come Dine with Me for VOX, we have access to the very best writers, producers and directors in non-scripted television. Secret Diner is the perfect partner to Come Dine with Me and we're delighted to be working with VOX on another great show.
"Production is happening this month and Uwe Schlindwein will be the series' Creative Director."
Remy Blumenfeld, Director of Formats at ITV Studios, said: "We're putting relationships on the front burner in the most dangerous room of the house, as would be restauranteurs go head-to-head in this hugely entertaining reality format. I'm confident Secret Diner will connect with audiences everywhere."
ITV Studios have also confirmed that VOX has commissioned further local installments of the international hit format Come Dine with Me, which is currently produced locally in sixteen countries, including Australia, France and Spain.
Granada Germany will begin production on 258 45-minute episodes of Come Dine with Me in late October.
Granada Germany has produced nearly 1,000 episodes of the format for VOX since the show originally launched in 2006.
The Secret Diner format was created by ITV Studios, Entertainment department which is led by Controller Claire Horton. The Come Dine with Me format was created by ITV Studios, Factual - London, led by Controller Tim Miller.
