Maltings Fabrics

Maltings Fabrics is a collaboration between Darcy Clothing and Hatley Print.

The two businesses have shared The Maltings building in Lewes since 2013 and decided then to establish a site selling period fabrics by the metre. Our aim is to supply costume professionals with authentic printed and woven fabrics that are becoming increasingly difficult to source. Anyone with an interest in vintage textiles is welcome to order and share in this great source of prints, stripes and plains.

Darcy Clothing specialises in replicas of period menswear and have most of their fabrics specially woven in 100% natural fibres. The plain and woven stripes offered by Maltings Fabrics are the ones they use in their clothing which is available at www.darcyclothing.com The majority of their clothes and fabrics are adapted from existing garments so can be used with confidence by costume designers seeking period accuracy.

Hatley Print run a highly specialised business using digital printing to supply bespoke printed fabrics for costume & production designers. Recognising the demand for authentic early C20th prints, Louise and Dan have put together a collection of original garments and used them as the basis for their authentic fabric designs, again ensuring historical accuracy.
