Hovershotz are THE Lake District drone service to filmakers and TV production companies, we are based in the heart of the English Lake District Cumbria. We work with the major Lake District landowners to secure permission to film with drones. We use the latest remote-controlled professional drones. Creating ultra-smooth, cinematic footage at up to 4k ultra high resolution. Via a video downlink, images and footage from the air can be viewed on the ground in real time, enabling the Pilot, Cameraman, Client or Director full control of the best filming angles and framing

Our pilot is BNUC-S qualified (the BNUC-S is recognised globally as the preferred pilot qualification standard, specified by many clients and national aviation authorities, which gives Hovershotz an advantage when applying for permission to operate overseas in other countries outside of the United Kingdom).

Hovershotz hold Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) ‘Permission for Commercial Operation (PFCO)’ (it is illegal to operate commercially in the UK without a PFCO). We also hold the necessary insurance to enable us to carry out commercial drone work.

Hovershotz specialise in aerial drone filming and video in the English Lake District. We are particularly at home working with film crews, TV companies, news channels, and advertising agencies.
Our flying drone cameras can capture video footage in a variety of definitions including 4K ultra high definition – We can film in log flat colour, to enable the video editor to colour match in final edit.
Hovershotz know the Lake District intimately and our equipment is ideally suited to filming in the challenging environment. We are quite happy to carry the drones and associated equipment in tailored backpacks and hike across the Lake District terrain with the film crew to capture the perfect footage.

In addition to aerial filming we are also aerial photographers.

We are very much at home working on broadcast film and television productions, our footage has been used by the BBC, SKY, Euronews and Channel 4. We have shot video that has been used on BBC documentaries, films, viral video and TV adverts. Being based and native to the Cumbrian Lake District, Hovershotz have the advantage of being able to liaise with organisations such as the National Trust and the National Parks Authority to secure the necessary permissions for aerial drone filming within the Lake District National Park Cumbria. Another advantage of being based within the Lake District; is Hovershotz experience of operating drones within a military low flying training area. The Lake District is designated by the Ministry of Defence (MOD) as LFA17 (Low Flying Area 17). This is of particular concern to drone operators. Hovershotz offer location scouting services to producers and film makers across the Lake District.
