Virtual Spectator Launches DataDVE Production Tool At Broadcast Live & Video Forum

Australian developer Virtual Spectator (VS) launched its DataDVE production tool, a commercial and entry level repurposing of the software used to generate the graphics in Australian broadcaster Channel 9's cricket coverage.
VS says that the software has a minimal learning curve and allows producers to create and put to air all the graphic and text elements required for the majority of broadcast programming. It's been set up for automated programming workflows, importing graphical, video and animation assets from a producer's existing tools and then using them in a layered environment with all text, data and animations produced by the software.
Features include: integrated character generator, multiple live video windows, animated news tickers, an XML data integrator and a 32-bit video overlay system. It also supports timeline content sequencing - another feature tying in to the automated broadcasting model - is portable, HD/SD switchable and works in PAL and NTSC.
"After developing DataDVE for use on Channel 9's cricket coverage, it became obvious that the entire broadcasting world could benefit from this set of tools wrapped up in a UI that can be mastered in under a day," commented the company's Peter Lamb.
