Rohde & Schwarz Partners With Broadcom

Rohde & Schwarz has expanded its collaboration with Broadcom, with the CMP180 radio communication tester validated by Broadcom as a comprehensive, future‑ready platform for testing and verifying forthcoming Wi‑Fi 8 chipsets.

The partnership is intended to shorten time to market for OEMs and ODMs integrating Broadcom's solutions, while supporting compliance, performance and reliability across development and production.

Wi‑Fi 8, built on the IEEE 802.11bn specification, is expected to deliver higher throughput, lower latency and better efficiency in congested spectrum, enhancing experiences for XR, AI‑assisted applications, real‑time cloud gaming and ultra‑high‑definition streaming. Meeting these targets requires very wide channel bandwidths, ultra‑high‑order modulation, multi‑link operation, high spectral efficiency and robust over‑the‑air performance – capabilities that the CMP180 was designed to address.

Joint test campaigns by Rohde & Schwarz and Broadcom demonstrate that the CMP180 meets the demanding technical needs of Wi‑Fi 8 chipsets. The solution supports the full device lifecycle from R&D and design validation through to production and quality assurance. With coverage up to 8 GHz, bandwidths up to 500 MHz, dual independent channels (2 x VSA / 2 x VSG), 4 x 4 MIMO for Wi‑Fi products and enhanced RF ports, the platform is positioned to handle the complexities of the new standard.

The collaboration also provides automated test routines and early access to test vectors, calibration protocols and software frameworks, helping manufacturers accelerate workflows. A focus on ultra‑high reliability means performance can be validated under challenging conditions, supporting use cases such as XR, AI, cloud gaming and critical IoT deployments.
