Sudan trilogy to be screened in Edinburgh

Three films made in Sudan over a period of 13 years by Scottish filmmakers Amy Hardie and Arthur Howes are to be screened in the new One World Film Festival in the Edinburgh Filmhouse during June.
The trilogy sold out in the Brixton Ritzy last month and has received glowing press reviews. 'Kafi's Story', Hardie and Howes' graduation film in 1990 is an intimate journey of a young Nuba man to buy a dress for his second young bride:
Ten years later, in 'Nuba Conversations', Arthur Howes returns alone to Sudan to a scene of fratricidal war and systematic genocide. Through a series of clandestine encounters in Khartoum the film begins to unravel a labyrinth of racial and religious persecution."
These films are now joined by Howes' latest, 'Benjamin and His Brother', which follows two of the thousands of 'lost boys', homeless after the civil war, whose walk from Sudan to Kenya has brought them the possibility of resettlement in the United States. While one remains in the Kenyan refugee camp, the younger brother relocates to Texas, and discovers an entirely new set of problems and challenges.
Benjamin and His Brother will screen on June 18, followed by Kafi's Story and Nuba Conversations on June 21.
