MPG Director Mick Glossop Made Visiting Professor By Leeds College Of Music

Music Producers Guild director Mick Glossop has been awarded a Visiting Professorship at Leeds College of Music and will take up the post at the start of the new semester in September 2009.
Leeds College of Music is the only specialist music college in the UK to offer both Higher and Further Education courses. It provides a unique opportunity for students to progress from BTEC courses through to Undergraduate and Postgraduate degrees, thus fulfilling their potential and enabling them to achieve a career within the UK industry.
Mick Glossop, who has lectured to music technology students at the College on a number of occasions, said: "Working producers have an important role to play in education, because we can bring the benefit of our practical experience to the students who will be the engineers and producers of the future. I've always been happy to devote time to this cause and I am really delighted to receive this honour from Leeds College of Music."
Visiting Professorships are given to individuals who have an association with the College, have shown distinction in an area of research and/or professional practice and have developed a national or international profile in their field.
Philip Meaden, Leeds College of Music Principal, said: "Mick's nomination was considered by our Professional Conferment Committee. They granted the Visiting Professorship on the basis of Mick's international reputation as an innovative recording engineer and producer and for his recent work in sound design and film post-production."
During the course of his career, Glossop has worked with a variety of different musical genres. He began by recording and producing new wave and punk bands such as Magazine, Public Image, Penetration and The Ruts, before having further success collaborating with artists including The Waterboys, Furniture, The Wonder Stuff, Frank Zappa, Ian Gillan, John Lee Hooker and Lloyd Cole.
Glossop has a 20-year history with Van Morrison, which persists to this day. Recently, he has been working on debut albums with singer/songwirters Naomi Bedford and Mandyleigh Storm, recording and mixing a new live album for Lloyd Cole, mixing a studio album for Spanish artist Revolver and producing a single for Tim Hickox. He is currently producing new singer/songwriter Ariel Archer.
