Notch Purchases Quantel Color Correction Systems And Shared Storage Technology

Notch, a leading Canadian color correction and transfer boutique, recently added two powerful non-linear Pablo 4K color correction systems with the Neo panel to its existing infrastructure of post production equipment.
In addition, Notch is the first company in Canada to acquire Quantel's Genetic Engineering shared workflow infrastructure, allowing the Pablos to benefit from the huge workflow advantages of shared storage via the systems 'GenePool'.
The new system also includes the Sam data server, which provides open access to the shared media for other applications, providing a further boost to workflow, management and productivity. Finally, Notch has also added Quantel's Max to the system to enable non-creative tasks such as conforms, playouts and quality control to be performed in the background while billable work continues in the creative environment.
Gary Chuntz, Colorist and a partner for Notch, said: "We were looking for an edge and we believe Quantel technology will take us well into the future. I fell in love with the incredible Neo panel because it allowed me to do my art and be much more creative. The Neo looks great and clients will love it."
More than 95% of Notch's business is transferring and color correcting commercial spots. Chuntz said they chose the Quantel due to the systems' ability to differentiate the company from other traditional color correction companies and give them the capability to be more creative while also producing results for clients much more quickly.
Mark Northeast, Quantel Regional Sales Manager, said: "Notch has virtually reinvented itself from traditional color grading practices, taking a giant leap forward with new non-linear color grading and shared workflow solutions. It takes real vision to make such a dramatic change; these guys have it with gusto."
With its latest purchase, Notch has the ability to take on any new project, from commercials to DI. The company is also well positioned to take on stereo 3D post production projects.
