Imagine Media's 'Na Dódaí’ To Start Shooting In Belfast's Blackstaff Studios
Series 2 of ‘Na Dódaí’, Imagine Media’s landmark series for young Irish learners, produced for BBC NI and the Irish Language Broadcast Fund, begins shooting in Blackstaff studios on September 19.
Last year, children learning Irish in nurseries and primary schools all over Northern Ireland were introduced to ‘Na Dódaí’ for the first time. Nóra and her siblings Ruairí, Róise and Naoise live in a wonderful house, inside a pop up book. Every day they dance, sing, tell stories and play games. In this magical, immersive world, created especially for young learners, the Ulster Irish they hear every day is the language Na Dódaí use when they play, sing and speak to one another.
Series 1 has proven to be extremely popular with both parents and teachers, and series two will also become an invaluable resource, specifically designed to complement the Early Years curriculum. Series 2 will continue to celebrate the ordinary in children’s lives in extraordinary ways. For both adults and children, ‘Na Dódaí’ is an enjoyable, interactive learning experience. The primary objective is to help build self-confidence and self-expression within a three to five year old target audience through the medium of Irish.
Series 1 of Na Dódaí is currently being rebroadcast on BBC NI. The Irish Language Broadcast Fund and Foras na Gaeilge provided Na Dódaí educational packs for Series 1 to all Irish medium preschools and primary schools in Northern Ireland. Educational packs will be provided again for Series 2.
