Miranda Targets NAB

A company that develops, manufactures and markets high-performance equipment and software has revealed part of its exhibit at the forthcoming NAB expo In Las Vegas.
Miranda, whose head office is in Montreal - with facilities in the UK, France, USA, Japan, Dubai, Netherlands, United Arab Emirates, Hong Kong and in mainland China - will be highlighting multiple new products at NAB (booth N2515), including loudness control solutions, space and energy efficient multi-viewers, and audio processing for NVISION enterprise class routers.
The company said that Automatic Loudness Control (ALC) prevents excessive jumps in program-to-program and channel-to-channel loudness levels.
Available for multiple Densite interfaces, it's designed to address all typical loudness problems, including audio level changes between programs and commercials, without adversely impacting the program content.
Miranda offers three distinct Automatic Loudness Control solutions: ALC with Linear Acoustic AEROMAXTM processing, ALC with Junger Level MagicTM processing, and ALC with Miranda’s low cost, high performance wide-band audio processing.
In each case, operation can be based on either ‘set-and-forget’ or actively managed processing modes, with playout automation driving a bypass mode or different profiles.
Kaleido-Modular is the most space and energy efficient multi-viewer system, with up to 20 multi-viewer outputs per 3RU frame, consuming less than 300 Watts in total. Each Kaleido-Modular card provides eight 3Gbps/HD/SD video inputs (with stereoscopic 3D support), and two multi-viewer outputs.
Up to 10 multi-viewer modules can be housed in a 3RU Densite 3 frame, which weighs just 19lbs (8.6 Kg) when fully populated.
The company believes that it is ideal for outside broadcast trucks, Kaleido-Modular offers outstanding picture quality, using the same scaling technology as Miranda’s top of the range Kaleido-X processor.
Each multi-viewer module can be configured to provide either dual quad-split outputs, or a single multi-viewer output for displaying up to eight pictures.
Miranda’s ultra-resilient NVISION 8500 enterprise class routers (3Gbps/HD/SD/ASI/AES) will be shown with integrated audio processing, including de-embedding, shuffling, break-away and re-embedding capabilities.
Using new 'hybrid switching technology', every frame in the router family can now de-embed, route, and re-embed up to 16 channels of mono audio per video input, and output in a completely non-blocking audio/video switch.
The audio processing is readily controlled from any NVISION control panel, using familiar commands for channel shuffling and break-away. This audio integration is achieved without affecting the router's crosspoint redundancy, superior cable management, and exceptional cooling design.
Integrating audio processing within a router streamlines operations, and saves costs by eliminating numerous outboard cards, card frames, and inter-frame cabling, while also reducing power consumption.
