London Editing Machines provides editing equipment and workflow design for Bond

Leading dry-hire company London Editing Machines (LEM) kicks off 2006 with the news that it is to provide the digital editing and networking infrastructure technologies for Casino Royal, the next feature film in the James Bond 007 series.
During the autumn of 2005 LEM worked closely with the film’s editorial team, led by editor Stuart Baird, and London-based reseller Root6, contracted by LEM to provide technical support, to design a workflow that would assist the film’s international production schedule.
Shooting will take place in Czech Republic, Italy, the Bahamas and the UK, with postproduction moving between Prague, the Bahamas, Pinewood Studios and Soho.
The initial provision of equipment has required the shipment of more than 60 cases of editing equipment to Prague, with an Avid network installed by LEM’s technical support team at Barrandov Studios. Editing will take place on Avid systems running on Apple G4 machines, with Unity storage and LANShare networking.
‘Casino Royale’ (an MGM, Eon Productions, Danjaq Productions, Stillking Films and United Artists co-production, released by Sony Pictures) is directed by Martin Campbell, with film editing by Stuart Baird and cinematography by Phil Méheux BSC.
It is the 21st film in the successful James Bond series, and is scheduled for release in November this year. It marks actor Daniel Craig’s debut as 007 James Bond, as he pits his wits against a casino owner who uses his winnings to fund terrorism.
Recent feature films supported by LEM include ‘Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire’, ‘Derailed’, ‘Cashback’, ‘Alien Autopsy’, ‘Sunshine’, ‘The History Boys’, ‘Snow Cake’ and ‘Lassie’. Television projects include ‘Child of Mine’ (Kudos), ‘Riot At The Rite’ (BBC) and ‘Ripley’s Gold’ (BBC).
